Tracy began improvising in 2005 when she stumbled upon an improv jam hosted by longtime Cleveland improv troupe Something Dada. She went intending only to watch. Upon realizing that participation was mandatory, Tracy quickly had to weigh which would be more embarrassing, standing in the back pretending to participate, or turning and walking out in front of everyone. She chose to stay, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions she ever made.
She began taking improv classes shortly thereafter. When one of those classes decided to form a troupe, the group Rockwell 9 was born. With them Tracy performed in numerous venues around the area and traveled to New York to perform in the Del Close Marathon.
Soon improvising locally wasn’t enough, and Tracy made the first of many trips to Chicago to learn the Harold at iO Theater. In addition to classes at the Annoyance, she has studied physical theatre and musical improv at Second City. While in Chicago, Tracy performed at the Playground Theater. She has participated in festivals in Baltimore, Columbus, Detroit, Phoenix, and San Diego. She has been trained by luminaries such as Jill Bernard, Joe Bill, Jimmy Carrane, TJ Jagodowski, Susan Messing, and Mick Napier.
With the all-female longform troupe Angry Ladies of Improv, Tracy performed at Big Dog Theater, Cleveland Public Theatre, and the Columbus Unscripted Improv Festival. She continues to perform with short-form troupe Point of No Return, which she joined in 2009. They have appeared at First Night Akron, the Kent Stage, and the Big-Little Comedy Fest.
Tracy brought an adult educational program to the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre in 2012. Topics have included Discovering the Scene, Character, Performance Skills, the Harold, Theatrical Clowning, and Improvisation for the Completely Terrified. She has also taught at the San Diego Improv Festival and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Tracy directs River Side Valley Players in Chagrin Falls and serves as Co-Artistic Director of Point of No Return in Cuyahoga Falls.
Tracy graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The College of Wooster and has a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology from The University of Akron. She has earned several public speaking and leadership awards from Toastmasters International. In her spare time, she does family history research and is learning to play the baritone ukulele.
